Restoration of monuments
The restoration of this work reclaimed a symbol for the city of Fidenza (the Partisan Memorial) that had almost been forgotten in recent years. The preparatory phase called for the delicate operation of disassembly. The memorial was moved to a nearby temporary workshop where all the subsequent restoration activities were performed. The work by sculptor Mario Pelizzoni had been unveiled in 1972 in commemoration of the victims of all wars. The sculptural group, representing an anti-fascist patriot holding a machine gun, is composed of tuff and travertine stone. The new life of the sculpture after the monument restoration process is all the more important for its lofty symbolic value.
